Learning Resource Centre

Westwood College Learning Resource Centre has been at the heart of the College since the 1990’s, offering facilities to support the curriculum, for private study and recreational reading.

The Learning Resource Centre is staffed by a qualified librarian and is open daily from 8:45 – 3:45 during term time.

Resources include:

  • Books – Fiction and non-fiction consisting of curriculum subjects for students to use to complete assignments or wider reading; plus a range of books for recreational reading
  • A DVD collection, available for loan free of charge
  • 14 computer workstations
  • A higher education and careers collection providing information for Sixth Formers applying for university, and careers advice for all students
  • Journals which support Sixth Form courses

Services that the Learning Resource Centre provides:

  • The room can be booked for use by classes to do research
  • Project loans are put together for use in the classroom
  • The Learning Resource Centre is open during break, lunchtimes and after school for private study
  • An Online Public Access Catalogue is available on the staff and student network enabling browsing of the Learning Resource Centre catalogue
  • There is a request and reservation service and students are encouraged to suggest items for the Learning Resource Centre stock
