Tess of the d’Urbervilles – a view from a cast member:

Tess of the d’Urbervilles was an all-out exciting, dramatic and poignant experience. It’s hard to believe that in less than three months, a performance of this level was achieved – everyone was a little nervous when we were told that instead of the usual musical we’d be producing a play; it was no easy task, but thanks to an amazing group of very enthusiastic and dedicated students (over 90!), an inexplicably brilliant bunch of technicians and front of house, back stage crew we managed to successfully make this performance one of our best yet.

It’s hard to comprehend the effect Westwood’s productions have on the local community, this time around, Tess had audience members weeping and laughing, biting their nails and left them in a state of awe – all down to a high level of quality of performance and dedication to all aspects of the process of producing the play.

The experience was exhausting but now we miss it and can’t imagine what to spend our lonely lunchtimes doing, and of course we all can’t help asking…what are we doing next year??

All in all, Tess was a uniquely challenging and fulfilling production, one which we’ll never forget.

Comments from the audience;

I would like to say how excellent we thought this production was. Very well done to all the cast and production team who have worked very hard to make the play so successful”

“We would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who contributed in any way to this marvellous production.  It was so enjoyable, professional, and atmospheric and you people at Westwood must feel very proud of yourselves
