News - Art Competition Entry

Tom Allbutt  Year 9  Westwood’s entry into the Al-Turner-Ative Year 9 Art Competition.  Every year the Year 9 students consider the work of winners of the actual Turner Prize which is held at The Tate in London every year.  In response to this students have to submit a piece of artwork on the theme on ‘Inspiration’.  Students can submit a painting, drawing, sculpture or anything that they consider to be Art. The submissions are judged by the Art dept and non-art staff and the first, second and third prizes are announced in the final assembly of the final day.

Tom has spent many hours in his dad’s garage using cans that have been collected by his family, the Art Dept and also the cleaning staff at Westwood College. His exhibit is entitled ‘Not Heavy Metal’.
