News - Berlin Trip

At the beginning of the Easter holiday, four students studying AS German and their German Teacher Mr Spragg from Westwood College took part in a trip to Berlin, along with a group of students and Miss Macdiarmid from Thomas Alleyne’s High School.

Whilst there, we saw many significant features including: the Parliamentary building – The Reichstag, the iconic Brandenburg gate, the Holocaust Memorial and parts of the Berlin Wall which are still standing today, alongside various museums, which gave us all an insight to the history of Berlin.

The trip allowed us all to put our German speaking skills into practise and develop them further, as well as learning about the German culture past and present. A lot of the focus of the trip was based on the post-war division of Germany into the East and West, which was a moving experience but was also thought-provoking for all present.

With the late nights, early mornings and snowy, cold days, it certainly took its toll on everyone, but it was clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip and gained a lot of experience from it.
