News - Head Teacher Changes – Letter to Parents

Westwood College has a proud, and successful, record of working with other schools. The staff and governors have always taken the view that they have a duty to contribute to the wider system. For a number of years now staff from Westwood College have supported other schools at both local and regional level working with for example, The Cheadle Academy in Staffordshire and Sandon High School, Holden Lane High School, Thistley Hough High School and the Discovery Academy in Stoke-on-Trent.

In this context the governors of The Leek Federation have agreed to an arrangement that will see Westwood’s Head teacher, Ian Hamilton, seconded to the Discovery Academy as their Acting Principal for the remainder of the academic year. In his place Richard Hey, who is currently the Deputy Head teacher at the College, will become Acting Head teacher of Westwood College. Both members of staff will continue to be supported by the Executive Principal of The Leek Federation, Keith Hollins.

We have every confidence that this arrangement, which will commence on 01 November, will be as successful as other such arrangements that we have been involved in over the last few years.
