News - Staffordshire Moorlands District Athletics Championships

The Staffordshire Moorlands District Athletics Championships were held on Wednesday May 14 at Denstone College.  Westwood College attended the event as reigning champions in two of the age groups,  therefore, having much to aspire to this year.

The conditions were excellent and there were some fantastic performances by all our students. Throughout the day, Westwood continued to attain winning results in all age groups, the students gaining fifth and sixth places were equally important for the overall results of the College.

Westwood submitted the most entrants into the events, there being only one event in which we did not compete.  Self belief, hard work, dedication and commitment were rewarded with Westwood achieving the position of overall district champions, winning both the U15 and U17 age groups and individually winning the U15 boys, U17 boys and U17 girls competitions.

Many of the athletes (below named) will now be selected to represent Staffordshire Moorlands at the County Championships on Saturday 14 June at Northwood.

Congratulations to all who attended the Championships and thanks to those who supported the event.
