News - Westwood College students undertake ‘Heart Start’ course

Cheddleton and Wetley Rocks First Responders team kindly visited Westwood College on 10 February 2015 to deliver a ‘Heart Start’ course to Year 13 Health and Social Care students.

The students learnt how to provide basic but essential care when faced with real life emergencies including CPR, how to place individuals in the recovery position and what action to take in the event of someone experiencing a heart attack, severe bleeding or choking.

The students understood this session to be extremely important as having the knowledge, confidence and necessary skills could be a matter of life or death when in a critical situation.  For this reason, it is strongly recommended as many people as possible are encouraged to undertake a course of this nature.

Thank you to the First Responders for delivering such an informative and significant session.
