Year 10 boys rounders team

The Year 10 boys rounders team became District Champions on Thursday 12 June 2014. The team consisted of Jack Plant (captain), Joe Priestman, Kieran Carr, Jack Robinson, Josh Robinson, Ben Podmore, Declan Heath, Adam Stevenson and Jack Shepherdson.

The team’s initial game against Endon was a fantastic start to the tournament with a 71/2 to 21/2 win. Throughout the games, Adam Stevenson and Jack Robinson excelled with their deep fielding catches, Declan Health was a solid and effective bowler throughout, Ben Podmore and Jack Plant demonstrated their tactical awareness and consistency at backstop and Kieran Carr showed great skills on second base.

Joe Priestman, Declan Heath and Josh Robinson displayed remarkable talent when placing their shots with big hits to the right of field, stretching the opposition’s fielders. In addition, excellent communication between the players and understanding of the rules also meant the team continually applied pressure on their opponents forcing them to make mistakes.

 Their results were as follows:

7 1/2 – 2 1/2 against Endon

5 – 4 against Biddulph

5 1/2 – 1 1/2 against Moorside

5 1/2 – 3 1/2 against Leek

These results promote the team to the next round as part of the School Games on Friday 20 June at Keele University.

Congratulations to the team on their outstanding performance.
