Our trip to see Macbeth at the Lowry

On Wednesday 16th November, the Drama department took a trip to see a bracing new version of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’, adapted and performed by Splendid Productions at The Lowry in Manchester. It was an amazing, interesting night, full of Brechtian devices and immersive techniques which invigorated the play, and kept all students gripped from start to finish – particularly as one of our own students, Niamh, was selected to take part right at the beginning of the evening! We all enjoyed the night thoroughly, and are thankful to all the staff who made it possible.

Any Questions? at Westwood College

Any Questions? at Westwood College

The Date:     Friday 18th November

The Time:     Doors open at 6.30pm

The Venue:  Old Hall at Westwood College

We are delighted to be hosting this exciting event on Friday 18th November.  The BBC have announced that the panel will include former cabinet minister Lord Blunkett, UKIP interim leader Nigel Farage MEP, the author Eimear McBride and the Chairman of the Conservative Party Sir Patrick McLoughlin MP.   The programme is chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby.

On the day

  • Entrance is by ticket only and all of the tickets have been allocated.
  • Audience members are asked to park in the College bus park. Drop off and pick up of audience members with disabilities will be permitted near the main entrance.
  • Please arrive from 6.30pm and take your seat by 7.15pm.  The BBC warm-up begins at 7.25. As Any Questions? is broadcast LIVE we cannot allow entrance to latecomers. The programme is broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 8.02pm.

Think of a question

You are invited to submit your questions on the day of the show via a collection box.   You can use the tear off section of your ticket for this but there is no limit on the number of questions you can put in.  We will provide pen and paper if you wish to submit more questions.   Make sure your name is added to any questions you write.  You will be given a copy of your question if it is selected for the programme.

Some tips for getting your question chosen:  Choose questions which focus around what’s been in the news this week or the day of recording. Questions chosen regularly touch on political, economic, and social and moral issues of the day. As a nationwide broadcast, national or international issues are most likely to be chosen.

Please keep your questions short.  And remember, you must be prepared to ask the question yourself and be prepared to air your own thoughts if required.
