News - Senior Netball League

Westwood hosted the fist satellite match for the Senior Netball Leagues on Thurs 24th September with a great turn out from all the schools.

The Y11s had a great start against Endon winning 4-1, though an injury on Endons team cut the match short. The match against Moorside ended in an impressive win 10-0, down to super shooting from Jemma Dawson. The next game followed suit, with some fantastic tactical play by Westwood, resulting in an 8-0 victory against Leek High. Onto Painsley, Westwood were by far the better team, but unfortunately due to lack of time the game was cut short, resulting in a 2-1 win to Painsley. The girls weren’t disheartened by this and went on to win Thomas Allynes 7-4. The final match against Biddulph resulted in an injury to Elle Meharg, which totally knocked the teams confidence and resulted in a 5-2 win to Biddulph.

Well done to Jemma Dawson, Elle Meharg, Jade Hall, Liv Cumisky, Sara Cruttenden, Anna Parker, Kelsey Jenkinson and Liv Tomkinson.

The Y10s (U16B) played Endon first and were in control form the first whistle, with some great work into the circle and some solid shooting, just a bit of work on footwork to sort out. Onto Painsley and the footwork was much better, there were some great interceptions to stop Painsley from getting the ball down court and we won 4-0 again.

Westwood managed to keep a clean sheet against both Leek and Biddulph too, winning 8-0 and 5-0 the only goal scored against them came from Thomas Allynes though we still managed to win 3-1. A fantastic night of netball for the Y10s.

Well done to Lauren Deaville, Tegan Lowe, Alysia Heath, Meg Jones, Molly Riley, Courtney Bradburn, Chloe Cooper (Y10) and Sophie Fallows (Y11).

Thanks to Mrs Bradburn for her help umpiring and coaching.
